Lawrence of Arabia 1888-1935 - what is left of him? How does he affect travellers?

He died in the UK in a motobike accident, and his grave is in the UK. In the South west of England. His house is open to the public. Check times.

He wrote The Seven Pillars Of Wisdom. A massive tome. Reading it will keep you busy for some hours.

Lost Items
He re-wrote it after leaving it behind on the train. Moral, when you get out of a train, always check behind you, is there anything left on the seat or under it? I like the style of one of the modern designs of trains in Singapore where the seat is not suspended on spindly legs but has a panel down to the floor, so nothing can be left under the seat. Less cleaning for the cleaners, Less lost property. Less danger of dangerous items hidden under the seat.

How does Lawrence benefit travellers? After witnessing an accident, and guessing that the person in command had made an error which a local pilot would not have made, he changed the rules. He changed the rule that on a flight the senior person in the military is in command, to the pilot is in command. The pilot knows the plane. The pilot knows the airport and the approach. The pilot makes the decisions.

(Not to be confused with D H Lawrence, who wrote Lady Chatterly's Lover.)
