The broken frames had come from the other Hatch End opticians across the road, The Eyecare Studio.
But on this visit I found what I wanted at a more attractive price in Hatch End Eyecare.
Covid-19
In August 2021 the shops and restaurants in the High Street had hand sanitisers at the entrances. Signs requested the wearing of masks.
I had to remove my mask briefly to see the spectacles and have them adjusted. But the receptionist taking the money was shielded. They were most particular that we used the sanitiser, and handed to them any spectacles we handled or which I tried on, because they had to wipe the frames clean before replacing them on the rack.
On a lighter note, the decor was a constant delight.
Outside, a giant spectacle frame stood on its side.
Inside: Winnie the Pooh; an aquarium;
A spectacular spectacle display made of bent cutlery.
A light fitting was made of spectacle frames.
My new frames have
Varifocal lenses (like trifocal but gradual, no line).
Scratch Resistant
Photochromatic - turn into sunglasses in bright light, turn back in darkness
Anti-reflection - easier to see the eyes and not reflections in a restaurant and on Zoom
I am due for another test any time from August 14th 2022. One year later.
