I am writing about a pigeon carrying a message in my novel, so I was interested to discover a racing pigeon club. The pigeons in Harrow are placed in a crate and taken to Scotland to be released. They were used by Ramses III and in ancient times the messages told people when the Nile was flooding. Pigeons have also been used in WWI and WWII.
