The Zinc Oxide Mask Made In Israel For When You Are Travelling

After the bad news about lockdown in the UK from next Thursday November 5th to December (in the lead up to Christmas) which sounds dreadful but it's only three to four weeks away - The best news I have read today is a magical mask made in Israel.

Zinc Oxide

This new mask uses zinc oxide. That is the magic ingredient, safe enough and effective enough to be used in cream for baby's nappy rash. (Americans say diaper rash.) I use zinc oxide cream for all skin breaks or eruptions.

On a long trip I travel with it. However, it washes off.

This mask contains zinc oxide which remains through 50 washes. The exciting news is that the process can be used in clothes, fabrics, presumably table cloths and napkins, towels, aprons and carpets, gloves, scarves, socks, all sorts of applications.

The two great ingredients everybody uses and knows about are zinc oxide and copper. When I used to see copper bracelets and bangles advertised I thought they were a trick. But copper is known for its useful properties. It is used as an additive to products and work surfaces in Finland where I understand every hotel is required by law to have one room for allergy sufferers - no dust trap curtains nor carpets, and specially treated work surfaces.

Copper

Copper is the magic ingredient used in some hospitals and in my opinion should be in all hospitals. I bought a slightly dearer toilet seat which claimed to be a healthy option. I read the ingredients and it contained copper. Sold!

The product was later discontinued. Why? I don't know. It could be just a change of brands to make a new product for the new season, or that the cheaper products sold better and were expanded to take over the space.

Back to the good news. Zinc oxide in fabrics. Starting with face masks.

If an ingredient is anti-bacterial, what use is that against a virus? We already know that Covid-19 is most lethal to those who already have other health issues.

Think of health as a see-saw. Remember, the last straw that breaks the camel's back.

In Singapore the government issues free face masks to every household.  I expect that when the new mask comes out - effective up to 50 washes, those households in Singapore will all get one.
