I like the redevelopment of the Terrace bar, which is also known as the Sports Bar at the Tanglin Club, Singapore. It has lots of tables with rounded edges, a u shaped bar, a big screen TV above a cosy fireplace with sofas.

I thought it would be partly outdoors, but I need not have feared. The tables were all indoors.
An Indian dinner club member whose wife is Japanese and an interior designer commented how typically British the decor was, with the obvious black beams dividing the ceiling. Japanese style is more plain and subtle and minimalist.
Getting there
From the north
Bus 184 from Bukit Panjang to Far East Plaza. Cross the overhead bridge. No need to cross any roads on food. Use the sports complex entrance, show your Trace together and card and cross the overhead bridge.
To return, buses to Newton MRT station. (Or taxis.)
