Problem
How do I ask for what I want in a foreign country?
1 Make a list of questions you are likely to ask - and the replies!
2
How do I remember Romanian word?
1 By repetition.
2 By seeking similarities.
English - Romanian
I can remember the Romanian word for pepper sound like Pippa.
The word for salad looks like s a l a t a. But there's a small bowl over the final, third a. When I type by pressing down the a key on my keyboard I get several accents on a Mac machine but not the vital one. It would be easier to copy the word including accent from google translate.
The word for sandwich looks the same without the ending and make a v instead of a w. I would recognise those words on a menu.

Story - Diabetic, Syrup in Juice, Translation
I was with my late father who had late onset diabetes in a hawker centre in Singapore wanting to by Fresh fruit from a fruit stall. He opted for a juice drink. However, after I watched the assistant putting all the juices in the mixer I saw her reach for a jar marked sugar syrup. I shouted no, and stop. She spoke only Mandarin and called the manageress. She explained their milkshake and juices were always made with sugar syrup. eventually we had the choice of paying for more fruit and milk, or cancelling the order. I think we paid for more fruit, We also asked them to write down the words in Mandarin for Diabetic, and no sugar in food nor drinks. Afterwards I typed out the words in English and Mandarin and printed a copy for both my father and myself, wo whoever was ordering had the translation handy.
Food nationality flags
To ask for a national restaurant or look for your favourite foods in a restaurant:
You can cut labels off fruit you buy, keep labels of baked bean tins, print national flags from the internet, photograph flags outside hotels and restaurants or restaurant menus.
