Finger Games And Songs to Entertain Children Travelling & In Restaurants

To entertain a toddler, there are many simple songs with hand movements.

Simple Simon Song

Simple Simon Says can be adapted when sitting down, to touch your nose, touch your ears, touch your hair, touch your knees.

Incy Wincy Spider

Incey wincy spider dan be adapted showing the spider climbing up, the rain washing it down, the sun coming up, and finally the determined incy wincy spider climbing up again.

An excellent YouTube video shows you how to make the climbing movement with the thumb of each hand aginst the fingerto of the first finger of the other hand, alternating.

Paper, Rock Scissors

 Easy finger games which I remember as a child include one requiring two or three older children or adult people. It has many names. One is Paper, Rock, Scissors.

Make a physical or mental note of these games before a journey out in a car or to a restaurant. You can extend the time by alternating with the child in suggesting the parts of the body for simple Simon to tell you to touch. 

Broken Thumb Game

I also like the broken thumb demonstration. You bend both your thumbs. Place the left thumb pinting downwards. The other thub points to the right. Cover the join with your right hand first finger. Move the right thumb as if detached.
