Romanian, easy words and muddling words

Problem
How do you remember Romanian?

Answer
I ann doing five minutes of Romanian language every day, one exercise on Duolingo. However busy I am, I can spare five minutes. It's also an excuse to take a five minute break, but not a waste of time.

The quickest way to learn is to repeat. Another quick way to learn is to tell or teach somebody else. Writing a blog post reinforces what I have learned.

Tips

Romanian - English
m e n i u - menu
s a n d v i c i - sandwich

English Romanian
menu - m e n i u
sandwich - s a n d v i c i

Muddling words
Romanian to English

I have children - Eu am c o p i i

Eu is not you but I. I think not U and E but U and I. The spelling may be you and he but the meaning is you and I, actually only I.

The Romanian word am is not am but have. I think I am in possession of.

c o p i i children - copies of myself - double letter for the plural.

EU AM COPII What looks like 'You my child are a copy of me' leads to the meaning 'I HAVE CHILDREN'.

No matter what memory aid you use, if you keep repeating it often enough, you will learn the translation.

C o p a i n is French for friend or pal, often used for schoolfriends.

I think of the words schoolchild and pupil and take the c and the o from schoolchild and add the p from pupil and the i from schoolchild and pupil and I remember that c o p i i is children at school, or school age children, just children
Romanian - English c o p i i - children.
