UK flag.
My family spent a day in London and reported back to me.
"It was exhausting - hayfever season.
"Outside in the street you don't hear English. Inside the buildings, in restaurants, you hear English, but not in the street."
I queried:
"Tourists, I presume?"
"You can presume what you like, dear."
Nowadays many Londoners and visitors are using borrowed bicycles. A couple of days ago I saw a poster at a station from Transport for London about cycling.
One of our day's destinations was the Stanford map (and book) shop for books and maps for a forthcoming trip to Bulgaria. Stanford with an N, not to be confused with the city of Stamford. Ma for maps but N in Stanford.
They stock every kind of map you can imagine. A wine map of France. But no more detailed wine maps.
The shop has a cafe.
Lonely Planet dictionary and phrase book. It is small. Small and thick. Handy size.
In the cafe we could check out the walking map of Bulgaria, and browse through the book we bought on Bulgaria, a dictionary and phrase book. Monday is a non-busy day in the map shop and cafe. All quiet, near Covent Garden.
