Learn Spanish, Portuguese and Italian together

Spanish
Who speaks Spanish? In addition to Spain, just about every country in South America and Central America except Brazil where the language is Portuguese. If you already know English, or French, or both, Spanish is a great next choice.

Who speaks Spanish as a first or second language? Lots of immigrants to the USA. In the USA you are likely to see signs in Spanish in public places such as hospitals. A good way to brush up your Spanish or get started.

In South America the accent and some vocabulary will be different to Spain.

Portuguese
In Brazil the Portuguese, like Italian, is very similar.  But at least you will be able to decipher many of the signs, understand and be understood.

If you learn Spanish, Portuguese is an easy next step. In Portuguese-speaking Madeira I could read a lot of street signs.

Check whether the courses you sign up for are for the region you are visiting. In addition to being understood and understanding, if you sound like a local rather than a foreigner you are more likely to be greeted with big smiles like a long-lost friend, treated cordially and given good prices.

Madeira is an island a few hours from Europe, a popular holiday destination.

Italian
Italian is familiar to us through Italian restaurants, coffee shops, Latin, opera.
