You need an agreement before you set off. Who will do what. The budget.
Success Story
I had a holiday with a friend. We started each day with an outing we both liked, such as a museum we both wanted to see. Then both of us could pick an 'essential' activity for the afternoon or evening that the other person did not necessarily want to do. That way we never felt the other person prevented us doing what we wanted. Often the other person's choice turned out to be something we both enjoyed.
