Why the Singapore pastry reminds me of a Cornish pasty

Both have pastry on the outside. Cornish pasty.  Filling potato
And something else.

I remember being told that farmers and miners would take the pasty with them in their pockets for lunch. the hard pastry protected the contents and stopped the contents from leaking into the pocket. In some cases one half of the pastry contained a meat and/or potato and/or vegetable filling, whilst the other half contained a sweet filling for dessert or to be saved for tea-time and to give you energy on the journey home.

The packaging tells you that old implies the date of 1956.
