My New Year's Resolution is always to get to sleep before midnight. Unfortunately I have usually broken my New Year's Resolution by one minute past midnight on New Year's Eve.
Answer
In previous years we just had a couple of friends over, watched TV fireworks until 12.20, waved them goodbye and were asleep by 12.30.
Story
Our best New Year's eve was in Lake Tahoe, USA. We found a motel out of town. The only place open was McDonalds. We went to bed early. We were up early seeing mountaintops with snow, the only car on the road, feeling smugly virtuous.

Tomorrow morning watch the annual New Year's Day concert from Vienna, Austria on (British and probably worldwide) TV, including light classical music and dancing in colourful costumes.
