I keep meeting words which I half recognize on American or American language websites.
Answer

Story
I was teaching English to a group of students at a school in Singapore. One of the pupils asked me to explain the word diaper. I translated it as nappy.
She asked me, "Are you sure?"
'Yes,' I answered. 'I grew up in England. I had a baby in England. I know the word nappy. Then I lived for two years in America.'
