Rope Bridge: Ireland's Extraordinary Bridge Inspiring Thoughts On Quick Construction

Bridge of the Day

The Carrick-a-rede rope bridge in Ireland. It is a bridge to nowhere. After you summon up the courage to cross over to the island, you then have to cross it a second time to get back.

Bridges, roads, canals, airports, ways we travel around the world for business or pleasure.  Sometimes it is a trade off of time and money. You have to choose the quicker more expensive route or the cheaper longer one.

Another factor is what you see en route. Do you want an aerial view, from a bridge, plane, or mountaintop? Do you want to use your own legs to climb mountains and enjoy the exercise and challenge, or the remoteness, quiet, nature.

Two ways to proceed with transport and accommodation. Look for cheap and DIY, or look for quick and readymade.

Bridges
I looked at a rope bridge in Ireland.
How did they construct it? How do you construct bridges?  In WWII and the wars, armies had to contract bridges in a hurry to transport people, equipment, cars and tanks

I love watching buildings go up. My favourite programmes are the ones where they do a house makeover in an hour (with a team of 20). As a property owner who doesn't want to spend the money and time moving out for 6 months I'd like to see building and decorating companies who guarantee to install a bathroom or build a house in a day. In an emergency like a flood or earthquake people can't sit around waiting 6 months for a new house.
